February 10th, 2022 – (BMV: AGUA*) Miranda ESG reiterates its views on Rotoplas’s key ESG achievements, opportunities, and risks. The targets that were announced in the fourth quarter did mark an improvement vs. previous corporate targets, and their commitment to become carbon neutral by 2040 is welcome. Seeing targets on all material topics eventually would be ideal, but this is good improvement.
Other relevant achievements worth noting for the year end are:
- Rotoplas was included for the first time in S&P’s Global Sustainability Yearbook 2022.
- Social impact investments of over 22 million pesos throughout the year in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and Central America. In total, these investments impacted 15,857 people.
- 130 rainwater harvesting systems installed in homes in Mexico that had no access to water.
- The launch of the Rotoplas & UNAM Foundation award to promote wastewater treatment.
- Participation in the United Nations Global Compact Accelerator, with a special focus on gender equity and climate change.
- Signed or maintained strategic alliances with over 20 organizations (including UNDP, Harpic, Cruz Roja, and Un Kilo de Ayuda) to keep enhancing water resources management.
- For the first time, Rotoplas’s Annual Report was aligned with the TCFD recommendations.
- The CDP questionnaire was completed for the second consecutive year.
- Ratings from both S&P and MSCI improved over the year.
Additionally, Miranda Global Research (MGR) published its financial coverage of AGUA* for the fourth quarter of 2021. Both reports are part of the independent analyst coverage.
